'Oye Ninne' charts the story of Vishnu, a young man who aspires to be a farmer while his parents want him to aim for something big. Hero Charan (Tarun) a middle class family guy, is cheated by Sanjana (Anitha), a girl from rich family. This is to take revenge on him as he teased her in the past. When the hero comes to see Sanjana after a gap of few months, realizes that she is engaged to an NRI (Rajeev Kanakala), who is an innocent guy and loves to marry a girl with Indian culture. Charan comes to know that the bridegroom happens to be his friend. Then Charan tries to change the egoistic nature of Sanjana from a different angle. Meanwhile, the hero gets a friend Geethanjali (Sridevi), an orphan girl, working in All India Radio and gets attracted by the hero.

Raju and Mahalaxmi meet at a marriage ceremony and both are attracted to each other. They soon fall deeply in love with each other, and decide to inform their respective parents of their plan to get married. Raju's family welcomes Mahalaxmi, and approve of her. Just shortly after their approval, Mahalaxmi's parents interrupt the proceedings and forcibly take Mahalaxmi with them, to get married to someone. The d each other, and no amount of mediation, or even the suggestion of such, will ever mend fences, leaving Mahalaxmi and Raju to an unknown fate.
